Death of Former Garda

A retired garda has died in hospital after being assaulted in his Dublin home. 57 year old Seamus Marren was attacked in Clonsilla and died from his injuries a few days later. He had a long service with the Gardai and retired two years ago. During his career he was assigned to Áras an Uachtaráin and had worked at a nunmber of stations in Dublin.

Gardai are said to believe the dead man was savagely beaten by a man he knew and their inquires are continuing.
