The Irish Photo Archive has started a crowd-funding project
to help us fund our next digital book, ‘Muhammad Ali in Dublin’. We are working
with FundIt.ie, who have been a great help so far in just getting the project
set up.
The focus of the Muhammad Ali book will obviously be the
fight with Al ‘Blue’ Lewis in Croke Park, but it will also look at the build-up
to the fight, the people involved, such as Butty Sugrue, the publicity events,
the locations and the aftermath.

Crowdfunding allows people to give money towards the running
of a project that they would like to see reach fruition. There are usually
rewards on offer, of varying values, so the funder can choose which reward they
would like to receive. Our rewards, for example, are a print of your choice in
the size that would suit you, with some other goodies thrown in.
You will need to set up an account with FundIt to donate,
and they will need to use a credit card for the donations. You can give as
much or as little as you like, and you don’t even have to take one of the
rewards if you don’t want to.
FundIt.ie is an Irish-based crowd funding site. The majority of the projects are Irish-based, but you don't have to be based in Ireland to set up a project on the site, and you don't have to be Irish to donate. But, if you are abroad and wishing you could help build up the economy back home in some way, FundIt.ie might be a good place to start.
We would appreciate any help you can give, and if you could
spread the word to any one else you think might be interested, whether they are
Ali fans, boxing fans or just like learning about Irish history. And with a book focusing on the prettiest boxer in town, you know the photos will look good!
